Christmas Delights Selling Exhibition

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…time to spread some Yuletide warmth and discover a variety of wonderful, handmade treasures to inspire your Christmas shopping.

This year Court Barn’s much anticipated Christmas Delights will run from Saturday, 18 November to Sunday, 7 January 2024 when we will be exhibiting hand-made items created by local designer-crafters.

There is something for everyone and prices to suit all pockets.

From Sue Bibby’s one-off, machine and hand embroidered, textile pieces,

inspired by birds, wild flowers and vintage book illustrations, to Tor Hildyard’s unique and playful wire artwork and Ruth Dodwell contemporary, handcrafted silver jewellery.

Toff Milway and the Cotswold Woollen Weavers, perennial favourites in the museum shop, will be showcasing their sought-after salt glazed pottery and woollen throws, alongside stunning and practical studio pottery from Vineyard pottery.  

Working in stoneware and porcelain Charlotte Sweeney’s mugs are both functional and beautiful, a pleasure to use and hold and you won’t want to miss Selma Staggs’ unique porcelain jewellery and large silver components made from precious metal clay.

Look closely at Tilly’s Cottages, made by Louise Whiteley and crafted from driftwood and vintage objects and you will discover tiny washing drying on the line and possibly a pesky seagull sitting on top of cottage roofs.

Sarah Davis is back using colour, surface finishes and designs to make the most of her beautiful glass pieces.

Museum shop favourites, Howard Lucas will be exhibiting his bespoke wooden pieces utilising the natural characteristics of the wood.  Freya Snow is back with her Christmas tea towels, aprons and oven gloves – the perfect practical present. And for those collecting glass tree ornaments to add to your collection, Jola Glass and Clare Wainwright have new designs to hang on your  tree.  

Looking for something a little more unusual? We have Judy Haslam-Jones’squirky, pottery sailors, fish and angels, while mixed media artist, Michaela McMillan always delights us with her magical, story-telling sculptures.

For a touch of luxury, Louise Hancox has just the thing –  made hand-fulled, exquisite, nuno felt wraps made from merino wool fibre and mulberry silks.

All these handmade items are a joy to both give and receive as presents.
