Graham, a retired teacher, first saw portraits carved in wood by Alec Miller through his interest in the Arts and Craft movement. Long conversations with Miller’s daughter Jane and Ashbee’s daughter Felicity developed his interest in how a highly talented creator, from a disadvantaged beginning, became an internationally renowned carver, lecturer and author.
