Godfrey Bell and Leigh Glover: Kingcombe in the Cotswolds, The Former Home of Sir Gordon Russell -The Garden

£20.00

This book is one of a pair of books on Kingcombe. It records for posterity the features of the original garden of Sir Gordon Russell (1892-1980).

Sir Gordon was multi-talented and highly skilled. He loved working with his hands and experimenting. He was not only passionate about furniture design and an exceptional draughtsman, but also a keen engraver and calligrapher, metalworker and woodworker, all skills he taught himself.

The design of the garden is both dramatic and beautiful. Sir Gordon was a personal friend of the celebrated landscape architect Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe (1900-96) and of the garden designer Russell Page (1906-85). Working with Sir Gordon, they created an inspirational and unique garden at Kingcombe. This lavishly illustrated book records details of the garden.
